God Is Still Speaking

Seven Small Villages equal One Caring Congregation

The Health and Wellness Committee developed the “Village” concept to help us become better caregivers for each other. We believe that by dividing into small neighborhood groups we will be better able to recognize and respond to the needs of our church neighbors. Examples of needs might be a ride to Church, family emergency, natural disaster, or checking on someone you have not seen in Church for a long time. Eventually we will all need the love, care, and concern of our Church family.

As we implemented this concept we remembered that we were building a stronger and more organized structure for giving care to each other. God gives us the gifts for caring, “As each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace...whoever renders service, should do so as one who renders it by the strength which God supplies.” (I Peter 4:10-11)

The colors of our name tags indicate to which village we belong. If you are a visitor who is interested in getting to know the people in your village, call the church office to find out your “color.”

Are you willing to accept the spiritual challenge to care for your Church neighbor?

I hope your answer is yes, and that you will participate in your village activities. —Joan Derby
